BDS Carriage Driving Championships – October 2011

Harry and Georgia in the Morning sunshine

Another year on and we have both qualified again for the nationals, not only in the four wheeled exercise class, but also for Georgia Smith who will be competing  in the Junior Whip(15-17yrs old). Needless to say we will both be competing with Harry (Craignant Satelite) and our four wheeled Fenix Flyer carriage. It was to be held at a new venue, Addington Equestrian Centre in Buckinghamshire

After an early start we arrived before 8 o` clock in glorious sunshine and on a day that was to become one of the hottest recorded days of the year.

Georgia got off to a very good start by winning the championship in her age group, and I must say she and Harry looked very elegant and beautifully presented, and Harry really shone in the early morning sunshine.

As the day wore on the heat rose and Harry found the conditions difficult in the mid-day heat, after all he is in his 19th year. Even so he turned in a good performance and was a creditable 5th in a very strong class.

We were all very pleased with our days showing and that Harry had once again performed at the highest level, even though he is an old age pensioner.

We are pleased to say that Georgia has now taken up the challenge to become a fully qualified RDA Whip; after all she has had the best tutor available (Harry) to help her on her way.
